The claim of France to lead the UN a proposal to decriminalize homosexuality around the world has placed the Government of Italy and the Vatican on the side of, in the words of the homosexual groups, "homophobia." If on Monday the Holy See to justify their non-French initiative because it "put in the pillory" for states that do not recognize gay marriage, yesterday was the Italian foreign minister, Franco Frattini, who said that the government of Silvio Berlusconi is also against it because "it would be a great mistake to international rule of legitimacy of family relations" between same sex.
Although the initiative promoted by France as current president of the EU, only calls for "universal decriminalization of homosexuality", without going into gay marriage, whether the Italian Government and the Holy See has focused its refusal in these unions.
As announced yesterday, several partnerships for gays and lesbians marched on Saturday in St. Peter's Square under the slogan never killed for being gay, to protest against the Vatican. The French proposal will be discussed on 10 December.
