Over a hundred policemen Canary participate in a conference on how to deal with crimes of homophobia and transphobia

A total of 140 students, including local police, national guards and civilians will participate in this meeting which has as main objective the police learn strategies for the prevention of hate crimes targeting sexual and gender identity. The Prime Minister recalled that the Canary Islands for 30 years the Law commanded the security forces to persecute homosexuals, many of whom were between 1954 and 1966 inmates in an agricultural colony considered by some historians as a real concentration camp.

Through this conference is intended to achieve two objectives, firstly, to achieve zero tolerance of homophobia and transphobia and, secondly, to train police to ensure that providing a higher quality of service in public safety.
